Supporting women with gestational diabetes

When Kim joined our NHS Diabetes Prevention Programme following gestational diabetes diagnosis in pregnancy, she told us she was looking for ways to improve herself and be the mother she felt her children deserve. Hear more about her incredible journey, her big wins and what she loved most about the programme.

Get support from a friendly community and expert health coach

Kim Abrahim, 35 of Derby, joined our 9-month programme during her pregnancy and we offered her the tools, guidance and community she needed, at just the right time.

“I was diagnosed with postnatal depression around the same time the programme started, and although the programme was aimed at lifestyle changes regarding food/exercise, it also allowed me to feel a part of a group of mums to young children who understood and shared the same experiences regarding diabetes.”

Support with gestational diabetes

Feel completely supported by an understanding health coach, with an initial 1-to-1 welcome call followed by regular online group sessions. As Kim found, we go the extra mile to make sure our programme works for women like you!

“I have a diagnosis of ADHD but [during] the hour plus sessions I am able to focus and follow everything, which for me is a personal achievement. That is all thanks to Irram [Kim’s health coach] and the engaging slides, videos and conversations…Thank you Irram for being so friendly, informative and kind.”

Improve your overall health and wellbeing

Our programme not only helped Kim to lose weight and lower her risk of developing type 2 diabetes, it also helped her to make positive healthy lifestyle changes and learn more about female health and wellbeing.

“Through the course, the various sections helped open my eyes and mind…From the little things such as drinking more water and correct portion sizes to variations of food, better swaps and exercise.”

You’ll leave not only understanding more about your risk and how you can improve your sleep, exercise and nutrition. Seeing women’s health as a whole.

Free unlimited access to our online gym

To help you to improve your health and lose weight, join us and get an unlimited online gym pass so you can move more from the comfort of your home. Like Kim, you too can find that extra boost of motivation and confidence!

“Joining the gym was the biggest success for me and I wouldn’t have done so without the programme. It gave me the kick I needed. Personal success for me is the amount of weight I have managed to lose, and my focus in continuing to attend the gym. It’s even made me confident enough to start swimming lessons.”
